Welcome to Pass the Write!
books teach us things & we must support each other
If you've been following me for a bit, then you know I hinted at a newsletter revamp last year. In the survey, many of you said you'd love a newsletter that shared writing resources and fostered community building. So, that is what I'll be doing here with Pass The Write, starting Sunday, May 4th. I'm excited!
I originally joined Substack to share a newsletter I called Jae's Rejected. I wanted a place to share whatever new work I wanted without relying on getting it published in a magazine. I also wanted to share my writing experiences and some motivation based on how often I am rejected from so many things.
To be honest, I found it hard to keep up with Jae's Rejected. Not because I stopped getting rejected (not even close), but because I wanted to chat about more things outside of myself, honestly.
So what's Pass The Write?? Here's what you're in for:
Pass the Write is a 3-part newsletter: 1) lessons/ ruminations based on literature and media, 2) literary engagement challenges and resource sharing and 3) little updates on my writer life.
Every so often, I'll send some big thoughts coupled with a small task in your inbox.
The point? We are all we have, so lets support each other. There are so many simple initiatives you can take in less than 30 minutes that would make a writer’s day and connect you to our larger community. It can feel lonely out there when you don’t know if anyone engages with your work, so why not show people love?
Things to know:
This will always be donation-optional. If support for this newsletter reaches $200/ month or more, 10% of proceeds will go to the fundraising campaigns of writers in need.

This is such a cool idea! 🙌🏻
